Schools & Apple Day FestivalA number of local schools are involved in the Apple Day Festival.
At present local schools visit the orchard in mid September and are shown different apple varities, Island apple trees, apple picking and sorting as well as the traditional methods and skills of apple husbandry. Pollination and local and migratory wildlife are also discussed. The children then practice some of these skills in a practical apple picking sesion. Work from these sessions include sculptures, paintings and illustrated poetry which are displayed on Apple Day.
